Timezone Converter
Convert times between any two time zones worldwide. Perfect for scheduling international meetings.
What is a Time Zone Converter?
Time zones divide the world into 24 regions (with additional half- and quarter-hour offsets for some countries), each observing a standard time offset from UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). When it's noon in London, it's 7am in New York, 8pm in Tokyo, and 3am the next day in Sydney. Keeping track of this without a tool is genuinely confusing โ especially when Daylight Saving Time shifts clocks by an hour in some regions but not others.
This converter handles all of that automatically. Select a time, pick your source and target time zones, and get the accurate converted time in one click. The live world clock shows you the current time in 20 major cities around the world, updating in real time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this handle Daylight Saving Time?
Yes. The converter uses your browser's built-in timezone support, which is based on the IANA timezone database โ the same database used by operating systems, servers, and apps worldwide. DST transitions are handled automatically for all regions that observe it.
What is UTC and why do time zones reference it?
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary time standard by which the world regulates time. It doesn't observe Daylight Saving Time and doesn't change with the seasons. All other time zones are expressed as UTC+ or UTCโ their offset. For example, New York is UTCโ5 (or UTCโ4 during DST), London is UTC+0, and Tokyo is UTC+9.
Why do some countries have unusual half-hour or quarter-hour offsets?
Most time zones are whole-hour offsets from UTC, but a handful of countries use 30-minute (India is UTC+5:30, Iran is UTC+3:30, Afghanistan is UTC+4:30) or 45-minute (Nepal is UTC+5:45) offsets for historical and geographic reasons. This tool supports all of them.
Can I use this to find my current UTC offset?
Yes โ the world clock shows the UTC offset for each city. You can also select your local time zone in the "From" dropdown and UTC in the "To" dropdown to see your exact current offset, including whether DST is currently in effect.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many time zones are supported?
All standard IANA time zones are supported โ over 400 zones covering every country and territory in the world. Search by city name, country, or UTC offset.
Does it handle daylight saving time automatically?
Yes โ the converter uses the IANA time zone database which includes all historical and current daylight saving rules. Enter any date and the correct offset for that date (including DST if applicable) is used automatically.
Can I convert between more than two time zones at once?
The converter shows a world clock for major cities alongside your custom conversion. For multi-zone scheduling, the world clock lets you see several zones simultaneously.
What is UTC and why does it matter?
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the global time standard all other time zones are defined relative to. It never observes daylight saving time. Using UTC as a reference eliminates ambiguity when communicating across time zones.
Does it work offline?
Yes โ once loaded, the converter works without an internet connection. Time zone data is built into the page.
